Keep reading for some of his advice to current and prospective AFAM students. What was your favorite AFAM course and why? My favorite AFAM course was Studies of Black Film because it was a unique and immersive class. I was able to study and analyze film in a different way than I am used to. Taking classes under the institute of African American studies gave me a new perspective on the world as an African American, and allowed me to intensively learn about black history. Why should students consider a major or minor in African American Studies? Students should consider a major or minor in African American Studies if they want to learn about the black experience here in America. The faculty are excellent and provide a diverse selection of classes to choose from. All students should take courses in African American studies here at UGA because these classes enrich your knowledge of African Americans here in America far better than is typically taught in public schools. Lastly, professors actually care about you not only as a student, but as a person by providing all of the tools that you need to succeed.
