After thirty-four years of service (including over twenty years in IAAS), The Institute for African American Studies congratulates Ms. Kendra Freeman on her recent retirement from The University of Georgia. As Office Manager, Ms. Freeman managed all daily duties and operations of the Institute, supported undergraduate and graduate students through academic advising, and coordinated courses, speakers, events, and other needs for the IAAS faculty. When asked what she will miss the most about her work, Kendra said, “the students and the faculty.” Some of her favorite memories include the lasting relationships formed with students and meeting many people over the years. Her dedication to supporting students, faculty, and staff was evident in her work, and we appreciate all she gave over the years. Kendra’s accomplishments were recently recognized by the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences when she was chosen as the 2021 Staff Excellent in Diversity Leadership Awardee. Congratulations on your retirement, Ms. Kendra Freeman!
