The Institute for African American Studies welcomes a new cohort of students pursuing its Graduate Certificate Program this Fall 2021. Application information available here. Students pursuing the graduate certificate should email Ms. Kendra Freeman – kkmfree@uga.edu – to schedule their academic advising appointment and be cleared to register for AFAM courses. Some of the graduate courses offered this fall include: Seminar in African American Theology, focusing on Dr. Charles H. Long, [AFAM 8960 | CRN: 49833], African Americans in Georgia & the South: Using Indigenous Science & Technology, Knowledge, & Skills [AFAM 6250 | CRN: 50253], and Graduate Seminar in African American Literature [AFAM 8720 | CRN: 49631], among others. Further, the IAAS will offer both required courses for the graduate certificate this fall. Dr. Medine (Director of IAAS) will teach AFAM 7770 (Teaching Practicum in African American Studies), and Dr. Feracho (Associate Director of IAAS) will teach AFAM 7500 (Graduate Intro to African American Studies).
