Assistant Professor of Sociology and African American Studies Maryann Erigha is Assistant Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at the University of Georgia. Her research and teaching interests include race theory, critical media/culture studies, online research methods, and African American Society. Her current book project Jim Crow Hollywood investigates racial patterns of inequality in Hollywood film directing through the lens of Black cinema. Other research examines the symbolic inclusion of racial groups vial ideologies, narratives, and emotions -- as well as the possibilities and perils of digital technologies for racial inclusion politics. Prior to UGA, she received a B.A. in Sociology and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.
