IAAS Library, Holmes Hunter 2nd Floor Friday, November 7 - Friday, November 21 2025, All day Friday, November 7 - Friday, November 21 2025, All day The Institute for African American Studies is partnering with local business Rashe's Cuisine a Jamaican and Soul Food fusion restaurant that is the catering vendor for all of IAAS events and ceremonies to assist the victims of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica. Victims are experiencing infrastructure devastation and social service interruptions due to the impact and scale of the damage caused by the storm. Please join us in putting food and supplies in the hands of the people, doing so in the spirit of community and collaboration that undergirds all of our work and events in the IAAS community. Infographics and flyers are attached with details and instructions on how you can lend a hand to this relief effort. All items will be gathered in the IAAS Library, you can simply place packaged and non-perishables items on the table. Here is a word of integrity and hope from Ms. Rashe Malcolm owner and chef of Rashe's Cuisine: "This is a personal initiative, not linked to any organization or campaign. I know many of you are already contributing to larger relief efforts, but if anyone would like to support this small community effort — either for this Sunday trip or a follow-up run later — I’d really appreciate it. Donations aren’t limited to these — anything you can give is welcome. Even one or two items make a difference. I’ll document and distribute everything directly to families or through the school shelter, and I’ll share an update after the trip.Thank you all so much — I really just want to make sure no one back home feels forgotten in these first few weeks." In addition spread awareness of this donation drive to your peer and student networks. We hope people can participate widely across UGA's campus.
